Building a coffee cart from scratch (pt 3- FIRE)

Building a coffee cart from scratch (pt 3- FIRE)

So we had a time recently.

One of our sheds caught fire and that fire spread very quickly to the other shed which was housing our coffee cart.

The cart didn't actually have wheels on it at the time of the fire but we managed hustle and with a bit of a mad scramble, we were able to locate the wheels, throw them on along with a couple of wheel nuts (done up finger tight) and wind up the jacks with a drill just in time to pull it out of the shed before the flames spread.

A bunch of friends of ours immediately came to our rescue and sat out on the road in the dark with torches pulling off the wheels, greasing the hubs and securing the wheels properly (with all wheel nuts this time) and then towed the cart away in the middle of the night to a shed where it could be stored safely and where we are able to continue working on it.

Despite the setbacks, we are making progress. Update video here:

So an update on the to-do list from the last blog:

Things we still need to do:

  • Custom build the door flap where customers will be served -In progress
  • Fit the flashings to the walls and roof ✅
  • Order a side entry door
  • Electrical fit out (wiring, sockets, lights✅ fuse box, 32a inlet) and get an ewof -parts purchased
  • Line internally ✅
  • Internal fit out- install bench✅ install equipment, install plumbing
  • Take the trailer for a wof
  • Install signage
  • Probably many other things that I have forgotten about but I will stop the list here before my anxiety level reaches over 9000
